Acharavi

Acharavi Corfu is situated on the northern tip of the Ionian Island of Corfu (Kerkyra).
It has long since established itself as one of the top resorts on the North of Corfu and is particularly suited to couples and families.

Around 40km from the airport, it takes about 40 minutes to get into Acharavi. The scenery on the journey is stunning as you pass through the mountains and quaint old Greek villages.

The resort comprises a main road with about 8 roads all leading to the sand and shingle beach. You can follow road number 5 to go to Villa Eleftheria.

The main road and beach-front are littered with bars, restaurants, gift shops and supermarkets.

There is a roundabout in the centre of Acharavi called “The Pump” because this is where the village pump used to be and where the Pumphouse restaurant is today.

A road leads from the roundabout into the old village of Acharavi. This is often missed but well worth a stroll as there are more bars and restaurants and older more traditional buildings.

Such is the popularity of Acharavi Corfu that many people have been returning to the resort for years and years and have witnessed it change from a small village to what it is today.

Some people have even moved here permanently to live in and around the village.

Acharavi Beach

The main beach in Acharavi Corfu comprises a mix of sand and shingle.  An attractive quality is the depth of the water itself which remains waist height for around fifty metres from the shore-line - excellent for children.

Another excellent attribute is the scenery.  From west to east you can see the neighbouring resort of Roda, the island of Erikoussa, the stunning mountains of Albania and then the nearby resort of Almyros.

There are a number of restaurants and tourist shops on the beach providing a peaceful afternoon drink/meal and the usual buckets, spades, beach-balls and inflatable toys for the kids.

The beaches are clean and are swept regularly.  There are ample bins placed along the edges of the sand for rubbish.

Sun-beds are available for hire for a small charge.  Just choose your beds and umbrellas and someone will appear to take the hire fee.

Snorkelling is quite popular and there are some great spots around the Acharavi area .  There are also a number of diving schools on the island.

Water-sports are good fun and boat hire is also an option should you wish to view Corfu’s beautiful coastline from the sea.

Acharavi has it’s own water-park called Hydropolis which is situated at the far end of Acharavi (in the direction of Kassiopi).  This is popular with all, especially families.

Restaurants

You will not find it difficult to find somewhere to eat in Acharavi!

Perhaps the biggest difficulty is choosing a restaurant as there are so many.  They all offer a mouth-watering range of meals from traditional Greek (sofrito, stifado, moussaka etc.) to British, Chinese, Italian - the list goes on.

It is said that you can holiday for weeks in Acharavi and eat at a different restaurant every day.

Bars

There are plenty of Bars to choose from. Depending on what kind of evening you want, you could choose a lively bar playing all the latest tunes or a more relaxed bar with subtle background music.

Facilities

Acharavi today is a popular resort offering a wide range of accommodation and facilties. Villa Eleftheria offers holiday rooms by the sea, for relaxing holidays.

It is known as the Capitol of the north of the island.  In years past, it was necessary to travel to Corfu Town for shopping and various ad-hoc purchases.  Today, Acharavi can provide just about everything needed for locals and tourist alike.

Supermarkets are abundant and are well stocked with a good choice of internationally branded goods as well as Greek.

Excursions

It’s great to just while away the time by the beach and the pools but doing something a little different makes holiday memories !

Going on the odd excursion always makes the holiday go less quickly and gives you a great opportunity to take in new sights and experiences.  Kids love them too.
